Keel/Listry, came from being four points adrift ten minutes into the second half, to catch a gallant Knock/Brosna side with two killer goals from Man of the Match Joseph Clifford during a three minute spell, that was enough to see Keel/Listry win this Keanes SuperValu Killorglin Minor Football League Div 5 Final, played at Scartaglin last night.
It was a keenly contested and sporting final, between two evenly matched sides and only for the concession of those second half goals, Knock/Brosna could 11.jpgwell have won this game, as they looked the better side for long periods.                     The Knocknagoshel/Brosna team

But its all about putting scores on the board and Keel/Listry with Kerry minor Gary O'Sullivan to the fore, managed to snatch this game out of the fire with corner forward Joseph Clifford doing the damage when the need was the greatest.

Knock/Brosna had the strong wind in their favour in the opening half, but found it difficult to turn possession into scores, despite the midfield domination of Shane Murphy and in particular Adam Barry.

Knock/Brosna's half back line of Conor Sheehan, Michael Walsh and Christopher Browne was rock solid with the result that Keel/Listry could not enough ball in to their big man, Garry O'Sullivan.

By the end of the opening quarter, Knock/Brosna had built up a 0-4 to 0-1 lead with points from Patrick O'Keeffe, Adam Barry (free), the excellent Timmy Fleming and Eamon Prendiville with Kevin Courtney getting Keel/Listry's sole reply. However Knock Brosna had kicked four wides and dropped the ball into the keeper's hands on three occasions, and this ultimately cost them victory.

Keel/Listry's shooting was also wayward kicking four wides themselves before, they got the fillip they needed in the 19th minute when Kevin Courtney fed Gary O'Sullivan, who burst through from the wing and rifled the ball to the roof of the Knock/Brosna net.

Keel/Listry almost goaled again three minutes later when Kevin Courtney raced through from midfield and his powerful shot was tipped over the bar by keeper Kelly as the Mid Kerry side grabbed a 1-2 to 0-4 lead.

Knock/Brosna rallied in the final minutes of the half, with three points from the impressive Adam Barry but a late Gary O'Sullivan free, left Knock/Brosna holding a slender 0-7 to 1-3 half time lead, which never looked enough.

However Knock/Brosna resumed a fired up side and despite playing up the hill and against the wind, they dominated the third quarter adding three points, all frees, two from Barry and one from Timmy Finnegan.

Knock/Brosna was now looking good with Barry, Sheehan and Walsh outstanding but then they succumbed to two sucker punches in the 42nd and 44th minutes.

In the 42nd minute Gary O'Sullivan delivered a pin point pass from a free to Joseph Clifford coming in from the left wing and dinked the ball over the advancing keeper from close range. Two minutes later Clifford repeated the dose when he collected a long Gavin Evans delivery and spotting the advancing keeper, he chipped the ball over his head and into the net.

A quick Gary O'Sullivan point and suddenly Keel/Listry had jumped 3-4 to 0-11 clear by the three quarter stage slightly against the run of play.
But Knock/Brosna fought back and two superb Barry frees tied the scores at 3-4 to 0-13 with ten minutes let and the game was in the balance.
Then when the need was greatest up stepped Joseph Clifford with a superb lead point in the 56th minute quickly followed by similar effort from Kieran Brosnan and despite late Knock Brosna pressure and an attempt by Adam Barry to steal it from a free, it was Keel/Listry who escaped to victory after a cracking contest.
